TOPOGRAPHICAL IMAGES IN HAKOB MNDZURI’S SHORT STORIES – 2022-4

Marine D. Ghazaryan

This article is dedicated to the study of topographical images in the prose of
Diaspora Armenian writer Hakob Mndzuri. Mndzuri’s prose stands out for its complete and
comprehensive images of the place, written with the knowledge of an artist formed from
close contact with native nature. Those images help to develop an idea about the geography
of this or that part of Western Armenia and are important in order to get a broad picture of
the national identity.

“Rostom’s unpublished letters” – 2022-4

Prepared for publication, edited and
commented by Yervand Pamboukian, series “Vem” № 4, Yerevan,
publishing house “Lusakn”, 2022, 732 pages

Hovik B. Grigoryan

One of the founders and key figures of ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Rostom
(Stepan Zoryan) was one of the influential figures of the Armenian social and
political thought of his era, who was always in the center of events related to the
Armenian society. Therefore, putting new documents related to him into scientific
circulation goes beyond personal and party spheres, and becomes the subject of
interest of historians and political scientists.

THE TURKISH INTELLIGENCE ORGANIZATIONS AND GROUPS DURING THE YEARS OF KEMALIST MOVEMENT (FROM 1919 TO 1923) – 2022-4

Aram S. Sayiyan

This article presents the history of the creation and the activities of Turkish
special services and groups in the Ottoman Empire from 1919 to1923. After the
war, special groups began to operate in the vilayets not yet occupied by the allies.
Among these groups, the most powerful was Karakol, which existed for almost a
year and a half, and ceased to exist on March 16, 1920, when the Entente troops
occupied Istanbul and arrested the leaders of the organization. The officers of
“Karakol” who remained at large, headed by Lieutenant Colonel Muglalı Mustafa
Bey, formed the “Officers’ Group”, and in February of 1921 he was forced to
change the name of the organization to “Yavuz”. In the end, Mustafa Bey, in order
not to be captured by the British, leaved Istanbul for Ankara and the group ceased
to exist. In addition to these groups, there were other secret organizations in
Istanbul and Anatolia that acted independently.

THE ARMENIAN SCENOGRAPHY OF THE 20ST CENTURY – 2022-4

As a form of reflection of the public consciousness

Lilit L. Manaseryan

Scenography can be viewed as an expression of a model of the world, in which
the worldview of the artist and the society is unconsciously displayed. This is carried
out both at the level of compositional, spatial constructions, color combinations, and
the ratio of the scales of the actor and the material environment. From a similar point of
view, scenography could be likened to a test drawing in psychologists, which reflects
the worldview of the society, its psychological state

COMPREHENSION OF ONTOLOGY ACCORDING TO HOVHANNES TUMANYAN

Aram G. Aleksanyan

The biophilosophy of Hovhannes Tumanyan has never become a separate
research topic. The theme was partially discussed in the voluminous monographs
and articles representing his fiction heritage, but it was not fully and
comprehensively studied. Undoubtably, researchers referred to Tumanyan’s ideas,
thoughts, and philosophical hypotheses, but his worldview and fiction heritage
were never classified and considered in the context of European philosophy.

FIGURATIVE AND EXPRESSIVE MEANS AS STYLISTIC TRICKS OF EXPRESSION OF IMPLIED MEANING – 2022-4

Analysis under a new light

Miranush E. Kesoyan

Figurative-expressive means in linguistics have been examined for the most
part as stylistic tricks to make speech influential, impressive, and enriching.
However, they perform another remarkable function too, that is, to serve
expressing the implied meaning, enabling to convey information indirectly, or
sometimes masking it, depending on various circumstances. This article is an
attempt to examine the figurative and expressive means from that point of view.

AN EXAMINATION OF USES OF THE OLD ARMENIAN SUBJUNCTIVE MOOD IN THE BIBLE – 2022-4

In comparison with the Greek original

Sargis R. Avetyan

It is argued that attempts to characterize the semantic relationship between
the two forms of the Subjunctive (the present subjunctive and the aorist
subjunctive) in Classical Armenian as either a mood contrast or an aspect-mood
contrast are not backed up by the relevant synchronic as well as diachronic
linguistic data of Old Armenian.

RAFFI AND NATIONAL FOLKLORE – 2022-4

Ashot N. Hayruni

The oral folk tradition, according to Raffi, not only preserved the mentality
and the mindset of the Armenian people, but also its folkways and epic legends,
which were transmitted only orally and were not written down. Thus, according
to him, a comparative analysis and study of oral folklore could provide a limitless
source of material to a given archaeologist, historian, culturologist and
ethnographer.
