Azizyan From the Ancient Armenian sonorants ཫ (l), ཱ (á), ཱི (m), ཱུ (n), ཿ (r), ཻ (), ཱྀ (w), ུ (j) only the last two ཱྀ (w) and ུ (j), participated in the formation of diphthongs and triphthongs, because only these two phonemes acted as sonorants. And therefore we shall study these two sonorants together.
